Common Eider landing - New England

Below photograph shows Common Eiders coming for a landing:

Common Eiders landing - New England

On this particular day, ducks were landing a little bit further away / sooner that I was hoping for. This allowed me to get wider shots like the one above showing more than one approaching. Luckily, I was still able to crop the image and separate the juvenile male eider:

I like the way these ducks spread their wings and feet right before the landing. Landing itself is even more fun to watch. I will post a photo soon.

I cannot wait to visit this spot again this Winter to photograph wintering Common Eiders, and other ducks, at times at very close distance. Soon, I will be releasing new guide / ebook with information on where and how Iā€™m taking photographs of these ducks for the best results.
