Greater Yellowlegs bathing - Jamaica Bay, NYC

Short, slow motion clip of a bathing Greater Yellowlegs:

What I like in this video is the way this bird first submerges its head, and on the way up, moves the water towards its wings. At that time you can see how it “moves” the water through its wing feathers. Pretty neat, isn’t it? 😊

This is one of many videos I’ve recorded of this species at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge this season. This was probably the best season for them for me thus far. I will be sharing more photographs and videos soon.

If you would like to photograph shorebirds, or to improve your photography at the Jamaica Bay WR, you can find a very useful information on how I’m able to get this kind of photographs/videos there by following my Location Guide, here: https://www.greggard.com/location-guides/jamaica-bay-shorebirds-photography-ebook If you are familiar with this spot but would like to follow the current situation, follow my Location Updates: https://www.greggard.com/location-updates/jamaica-bay-ny-shorebirds-2019
