Heron Rookery - New Jersey - Location Guide

There is no need to travel to Florida to photograph heron rookery.

New Jersey has its own!

And it quickly became very popular with many photographers for its unique viewing area that offers an excellent opportunity to observe and photograph nesting Black and Yellow-crowned Night Herons at the eye level and even from above.

Every year rookery attracts more birds with Glossy Ibis family being my favorite:

This guide is written to give you a great start on your very first visit and to improve your skills if you are unable to get the quality of images you see online. Following simple tips in this guide, http://www.greggard.com/purchase-a-location-guide , will highly improve your chances of getting them on your next visit there. No photoshop tricks required! All images you see in this post had only basic adjustments done: saturation, exposure, contrast, sharpening. No fancy, 1 hour processing was required.

Information in my guides takes into consideration that you know how to properly set the exposure, how to operate your camera etc. Otherwise, I will suggest taking a workshop. If you need a recommendation for one, send me an email (or leave a private comment). I may know a perfect person for you.
